About Domain It Forward (DomainItForward.com)

This website and idea is an experiment in “paying it forward” (generalized reciprocity) using domain names. My name is Breht Burri. I am a Domainer and the creator of Domain It Forward. Domainers make a living by buying, selling, developing, and holding domain names as investments. As a Domainer, I spend a couple of hours each day reading through lists of thousands of domain names looking for properties that I can profitably add to my domain name portfolio. In the process of doing this, I discover many names that do not fit my particular needs but would be very valuable assets for other individuals or organization. My goal is to spend some time every day attempting to unite valuable domain names with appreciative end users who are in a position to put the names to good use. I am hoping that it might be a good thing to do something beneficial for someone just because you can. That is the idea behind DomainItForward.com.

This is how it will work…

As part of the Domain It Forward program, I will hand register approximately two domain names each day for around $9.00 each. After registering the names, I will attempt to contact the (hopefully grateful) potential owners and explain to them that this is a legitimate act of benevolence and, with their consent, transfer the domain names to their control. After the transfer, I’ll write a quick blog post about the success or failure for each domain placement.

Transfers to the New Users Accounts

My domains are registered with the domain registrar Moniker.com. Moniker is one of the world’s largest and most secure Domain Registrars. They have great a customer support team, and they are “THE” registrar of choice for most professional domainers. Consequently, all the “Domain It Forward” domains will also be registered at Moniker.com. To ensure that the transfers go smoothly, the potential new domain owner will need to create an account at Moniker.com. NOTE: Moniker accounts are free. This will ensure a smooth and quick transfer of the name to the new user’s account. After the transfer, the new user can move the domains to a registrar of their choosing or leave the names at Moniker. Transfers within the same registrar are easier and less time consuming for Domain It Forward and also for the new users.

Costs are not equal to Value. The gift is the VALUE to the recipient.

The domains will be given with no requirements for compensation. However, voluntary donations for the domains will be accepted. In light of the world’s growing internet economy, the value to the recipient of the gift of the “right” and “better” domain name greatly exceeds the registration costs to obtain it. Getting the right domain name is like getting the right location in real estate. You cannot ask for a better start than owning the .com domain name that aptly describes your business and/or location and/or service.
